Call for papers for Journal for Multicultural Education

Special issue on “Resilience in Learning”

Guest Editor:

Carol Evans, University of Exeter, UK

You are invited to contribute to the special issue on “Resilience in Learning.”  This issue aims at enhancing understanding of resilience in learning from both individual and organisational perspectives in supporting learning within education and workplace contexts. We are especially interested in research considering how different cultures can support the development of learner and worker resilience (culture here is defined broadly e.g., familial; school, workplace, organization networks; ethnicity encompassing social, cultural and/or national groupings).

In the context of this special issue resilience is broadly defined to include:  consistency of interest and perseverance (Duckworth et al., 2007); cognitive style malleability (Zhang, 2013); learning dispositions and networks (Evans, 2014); emotional resilience (Abiola & Udofia, 2011); how we perceive ourselves – identity development; ability to traverse different communities of practice (Hong, 2010).

From an individual perspective articles could, for example, focus on the ability of learners to use a wide variety of learning strategies; development of learner self-regulation capacity (metacognitive, cognitive, affective dimensions); learner use of volitional strategies to support learning). From the organisational perspective we are interested in innovative ways to support learner / worker resilience; development of technologies to support learner resilience.

Articles can be in the form of a research paper, viewpoint, technical paper, conceptual paper, case study, literature review, general review.

In finalising the focus for your article please also refer to the editorial objectives outlined below which can be found at: http://www.emeraldinsight.com/products/journals/call_for_papers.htm?id=5084

·        Fostering research into multicultural and inclusive education

·        Understanding multicultural education in the context of teacher-learner equity

·        Highlighting the role of digital education in supporting multicultural education and international education

Each article is subjected to double blind peer review to ensure the articles meet the requirements of the journal in being authoritative, accessible and relevant.
