We (Allan Jepson, The University of Hertfordshire; and Alan Clarke, University of Pannonia, Hungary) are now looking to publish an edited book entitled ‘Managing and Developing Community Festivals and Events’ which seeks to further understand the planning, decision making, and management processes occurring within community festivals and events.

 

CALL FOR CHAPTER ABSTRACTS

 

We invite empirical and conceptual contributions that elaborate on the planning and management phenomena of community festivals and events especially ones which draw upon on a range of different theoretical and methodological approaches. We welcome chapters which are guided by, but not restricted to, the following areas:

 

•           Culture, authenticity, management and meaning of local community festivals /events

•           Motivation and engagement in local community events

•           Power, decision making, and management in local community events

•           Planning / Managing  Sustainability / sustainable networks in local community events

•           Planning / Managing  The evolution and life cycle of local community events

•           Planning / Managing  social communications and marketing strategies within local community festivals /events

•           Planning / Managing or developing  Community events as social enterprises

•           Planning / Managing the  Impacts of community events

•           Planning / Managing  community events as tourist attractions / or sources of regeneration

•           Planning / Managing the role, importance and impacts of community festivals and events

•           Planning / Managing / developing a sense of community / place / prestige / image / social structure through local  community events

•           Planning / Managing diversity, ethnicity, and equality in community festivals and events

•           Planning / Managing Rural communities festivals and events

•           Planning / Managing urban communities festivals and events

•           Planning / Managing coastal communities festivals and events

•           Managing community hospitality, food, wine festivals and events

 

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

 

Please submit an abstract, between 250 – 500 words, outlining your proposed chapter, which clearly articulates the chapter’s original contribution to the community festival and events literature.  Please email contributions to Dr Allan Jepson – a.s.jepson@herts.ac.uk  by Friday 31st October 2014
